Orchard Street is famous for international retail shops and luxury products. It was easy to spend several hours walking the stretch and checking out the various stores, restaurants, and cafes though we didn't really buy anything. Orchard Road the main activity center of Singapore City is only a 4 minute ride on the MRT or a 15 minute walk.
Buses and trains to Singapore are also well available from the neighboring Malaysia, and ferries to Singapore can be found in many Indonesian ports. There are extensive subway and light rail networks for local transportation in Singapore. But even then, many people could not afford to buy those. The government went further to allow people to use their Central Provident Fund savings to buy such flats.
